Cindy Haeffner
February 2023 Speaker

The Haeffner Farm is located in the foothills that surround Hermann where Cindy, with her husband Joy, has lived in rural Hermann for over 35 years. She recently retired as from Money Concepts Capital Corp., and is actively involved in farming their family’s commercial cattle farms, in a conservation minded manner.

Cindy have been a member of the Greater St. Louis Daffodil Society since 2003. She has served as Vice-President and President of the organization. One of her goals is, keeping youth active and involved with daffodils and gardening thru community planting projects at Hermann High School, Hermann Elementary and with MODOT’s “Growing Together” project at the Owensville, MO High School. Owensville horticulture students, GSLDS and Gasconade County Master Gardeners are the sponsors and supporters of the “Growing Together” plantings.

As it often does, daffodil growing and collecting began rather innocently for Cindy. In the early 1980s, a family friend introduced her to daffodils that were fragrant, such as ‘Cheerfulness’, and she was entranced! She began showing daffodils in 2004 and her first National Award was received at the 2005 National Convention in St. Louis, the Olive Lee Trophy Award for 'Avalanche'. At the 2009 National Convention in Chicago, she won the English Award & Silver Ribbon. As the years have progressed, she now grows approximately 2,500 varieties and in 2009 started hybridizing daffodils.
